About Ms.Mejia

For as long I can remember, I wanted to be a teacher. That idea was even more evident as, I spent countless hours teaching my dolls and chasing my cousins to play school. When it was time to pick a career, I knew this was the way to go!

I found out about the Montessori Method while teaching my first class. I fell in love with the philosophy and have never looked back ever since. This led me to receive my Montessori training from Summit Questa Montessori in both Early Childhood and Lower Elementary. I continued to pursue other degrees with the quest of wanting to know more. I attended Florida International University where I earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education with ESOL endorsement and a Master of Science in Reading Education. My goal is to earn a Doctorate degree in Curriculum Instruction in a nearby future.

My passion for teaching has led me to complete my tenth year working in the field of Education.  For many of those years, I have taught early childhood and elementary. I don't favor a grade because I have enjoy the experiences and memories gained from all of them.

As the years have passed my teaching style has transformed. Even though, my main goal has always stayed the same. No matter the education trend, I want my students to become lifelong learners and fuel their curiosity to know more. As Maria Montessori once said, "Education is not something which the teacher does, but a natural process which develops spontaneously in the human being [in order to] free the child's potential, and transform him into the world."
